Matthew Loughran is a founding member of the firm Fonseca & Loughran. He is licensed to practice law in New York and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Loughran holds an advanced degree in electrical engineering and has been a registered patent attorney for seven years. Mr. Loughran counsels firm clients in all aspects of intellectual property law, including patent, trademark, copyright, trade dress and trade secret matters. Specifically, he specializes in patent preparation and prosecution in the following areas: computer hardware and software; consumer electronics; medical devices; and nutritional supplements. He also prepares and files copyright and trademark applications on behalf of his clients.

Mr. Loughran also prepares international patent and trademark filings to protect the rights of his clients throughout the European Union, Asia, Canada, and the rest of the world. He also provides legal opinion letters, including patent analysis, patent non-infrigement, patent validity and trademark non-infringement studies.

Mr. Loughran is also in charge of the firm's consulting and manufacturing divisions. He is closely connected with leading consulting firms and experienced contract manufacturing firms capable of turning a client's invention into a reality. Mr. Loughran is also highly skilled in the valuation of intellectual property and can provide a client with a complete economic perspective and analysis of the marketplace. An economic analysis of the marketplace is also highly beneficial to a client during litigation and the negotiation of licensing agreements.

Mr. Loughran is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), and the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).
